For years they had studied holograms and videos of Earth in the Challenger's library and had dreamed of the time when they could walk under the Earth's blue skies, feel warm summer breezes on their faces and cool green grass beneath their feet.
And now the Earth has vanished form the solar system. From clues discovered on the abandoned colonies of other planets they learned that the people of Earth had taken their planet in search of a new sun- a sun that was not liable to become a nova.

Dave's comment
This was a book that I liked a lot. The only thing I did not like was finding out that I missed the radio broadcast, as the BBC production of plays tends to be very good. The BBC have released this series on tape. This is the first novel in the "Earthsearch" saga. This book edition has been fully revised and rewritten with substantial alterations and new material from the original BBC Radio 4 series broadcast and published in 1981 by the BBC.
